The Budget Skincare Series: Teabags

Tea is cheap, cheerful and a hug in a mug. Rich in antioxidants and anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, tea is one of the most powerful grocery store staples that can be used for skincare. Here are 5 ways you can use tea as part of your budget natural skincare.

1. Get rid of puffy eyes and dark circles

Old wives and runway models swear by the magic of tea to calm the delicate eye area. The caffeine helps to shrink blood vessels underneath the skin and eliminate darkness around the eye area. Make yourself a pot of tea (black, green, early grey, whatever you desire), pop the teabags in the fridge and once cool enough lie back, relax, and think of England while the bags do their trick.

2. Burn baby Burn

When the sun comes back (please, be in time for the bank holiday weekend) you can sooth your Englishman tan-lines with a cold compress of black tea bags. The bags can relieve the pain and reduce redness. Remember to use a cloth that you don't mind staining. I learnt that lesson the hard way...

3. Bug Bites

With the lush summer nights comes the dreaded mozzy. Bite creams can be expensive. Instead use a cold chamomile tea bag to take down the sting and bumps.

4. Tone and Moisturise the Skin

Green tea isn't just great for digestion. By spraying, or applying with cotton wool, cool green tea onto your face twice a day it can help to draw out impurities, shrink large pores and provide a healthy glow.

5. Shaving Rash

If your legs are itchy and red after shaving, try pressing a cool black tea bag onto the area. The tannins work to provide immediate relief from razor burns.

Do you use tea as part of your beauty routine? I would love to know!
